Privacy, consent & safeguarding
Handling people's information with care
How we collect, use and protect personal information, and how we protect the dignity of the people whose stories and images we share.
Privacy notice
Onesha Community Health Foundation ("Onesha", "we") respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 of the United Republic of Tanzania.
What we collect through this website
- Enquiry forms: your name, email address, and, if you choose to give them, your phone number, organisation and message.
- Visit statistics: we count page visits without cookies. We do not store IP addresses; a visitor is represented by a code that changes every day, so individuals cannot be tracked over time.
How we use it
We use enquiry details only to respond to you and to manage the partnership, support or volunteering relationship you asked about. We never sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except where needed to answer you (for example, our clinical partner for an eye-care referral you requested) or where required by law.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and maintain our records, and are then deleted. Visit statistics are deleted after about 13 months.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to info@onesha.or.tz.
Maps and external links
The map on our contact page loads from Google only when you choose to show it. Share buttons open the chosen service in a new tab.
Consent & safeguarding
The people we serve include older adults, children and people in vulnerable situations. We protect their dignity and safety in how we work and in how we communicate.
- Informed consent: we publish a person's name, story or photograph only with their informed consent, or that of a parent or guardian for a child, and we explain how it will be used.
- Dignity first: we do not use images that shame, sensationalise or portray people as helpless.
- Children: we avoid publishing information that could identify where a child lives or goes to school.
- Health information: clinical records remain confidential and are never published. Results we publish are aggregated.
- Withdrawal: anyone featured may ask us to remove their story or image, and we will do so promptly.
- Photo metadata: photographs uploaded to this website are automatically stripped of hidden location data.
